President William Ruto has joined the list of leaders condemning the evil deeds of controversial Malindi pastor Paul Mackenzie, saying the killer cult leader belongs behind bars.
Speaking on Monday, the head of state warned people who are masquerading as religious leaders, yet their teachings are contrary to religious teachings and beliefs, that they will face the law.
“There is no difference between Mr Mackenzie who pretends and postures as a pastor when in fact he is a terrible criminal. People like Mackenzie are using religion to do the same thing… Let me say for the avoidance of doubt that people like Mackenzie and all other terrorists and criminals do not belong to any religion, they belong to jail and that is where they should be,” said President Ruto.
He assured Kenyans of protection from such religious leaders. He further said that he has instructed his agencies to take up the matter and get to the bottom of religious activities that advance unacceptable ideology in the Republic of Kenya, causing unnecessary loss of lives.
Ruto added that religious groups responsible for teachings that are contrary to the constitution will be prosecuted. The president also said such institutions should be closed down with immediate effect as they are working against the interest of the people of Kenya.
