NARC -Kenya party Leader Martha Karua has warned Kenyans to be careful of a potential maize scandal.
“In the grand coalition government as agriculture minister William Ruto was associated with Maize scandal. We are now set for season two of the Maize scandal,” she said referring the 2009 maize scandal.
Her sentiments are in reference to the ongoing debate concerning maize importation and the current state of food security in the country.
Through her twitter account, Martha Karua faulted the need of importing maize stating that it would be of more harm than good especially to Kenyan farmers.
Karua further criticized the government for giving an okay on maize importation without designing rules and policies to govern it.
Trade CS Moses Kuria caused a stir on on social media yesterday evening following his remarks which many Kenyans say were reckless.
“The Government campaigned on a pledge to Lower the cost of living and ensure no Kenyan dies of hunger. This is our unanimous and collective primary duty and an irreducible minimum. We will do exactly that even as we safeguard the interest of farmers. Bora uhai, siasa baadaye!” Moses Kuria he wrote.
