Bunge La Wananchi President Calvin Okoth Gaucho has called upon the government to stop threatening the youth over insecurity and instead offer them the jobs they promised during their campaigns.

”We agree security is paramount but you also need to get these young people something to do because they are just trying to fend for themselves,” he stated faulting the government’s decision to use multi-agency forces to curb crime in the country’s capital, Nairobi.

Addressing journalists, Gaucho pointed at lack of employment among the youth as the key contributor to the upsurge in criminal cases.

In line with these, he decried president Willam Ruto’s decision of eliminating the ”Kazi Mtaani” programme ‘which he said has contributed to unemployment since a number of youth were being kept busy with the programme.

Gaucho’s remarks come after the President gave orders that saw Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome reengineer the leadership and the command of the police in the city, and also deployed a multi-agency response team to deal with the gangs

This is after the number of robbery cases in both broad daylight and at night rose in the Capital.
