Mumias East MP Peter Salasya was overwhelmed while participating in the 1500m race in the ongoing East African Commission inter-parliamentary games in Mombasa.

Before the race, Salasya was confident that he was going to beat other MPs from other countries. He however lost the race to a Ugandan lawmaker, after losing all the gas during the final lap.

“Haijakuwa rahisi nimejaribu but gas iliishia kwa last lap Muganda akanishinda,” he said.

He shared videos while he was receiving medical attention after the race. Salasya blamed himself for doing more practice a day prior to the race.

“I tried but gas, I wish I couldn’t have gone outside yesterday and did more practice. Last lap wasted me I lost all my gas but I promise them a run for their gas in short races,” he said.

The lawmaker confirmed that he was okay after being attended to by members of Parliament’s health club.

“I will show them next time. Nasimamisha any hard drugs things I take in my body. Wacha tu. Uganda nimewamark next,” he said.

Salasya said that he will be participating in the 200m race.
