The Kenya National Union of Teachers, Bomet branch is appealing for the removal of the County Education Executive and Chief Officer from office.
Branch Executive Desmond Langat accused the two of arrogance, mistreatment of ECDE teachers and sabotaging the talks between KNUT and the teachers.
Speaking after meeting ECDE teachers from the county, he told the county assembly to commence the process of removing the duo in order to savage the sector.
“The Education CEC is so arrogant and talks recklessly to teachers. Recently, 3 CECs were kicked out by the MCAs and we ask the MCAs to include Education CEC and his COs in the list of those who need to goo home,” he said.
He faulted the dismissal of 126 teachers, whose contracts had elapsed, saying they ought to have instead been confirmed since they had served for many years.
He maintained that ECDE teachers are members of KNUT, dismissing as self-seeking a union claiming to defend teachers from the county.
Langat also rooted for talks between the county and the teachers, saying there are many pending issues which need to be addressed.
“We want to appeal for talks between the county county government and ECDE teachers. We have many pending issues, which include the one for the 127 teachers. As a union we are ready to promote good relations between the parties,” added Langat.
The Union also dismissed claims that all ECDE teachers in the county have received their salaries, and further appealed for the urgent intervention of Governor Hillary Barchok.
