Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok has suspended three county Executive Members censured by the county Assembly.

The three are Eric Ngetich (Roads), Joseph Kirui (Administration), and Andrew Sigey (Finance).

Pressure has been piling on the trio, who are accused of incompetence, and misappropriation of funds and misuse of office to leave office.

MCAs say despite the acquisition of road construction equipment and allocation of millions of shillings, construction works have been slow.

While approving censure motions against the three, MCAs observed that over sh 373 million shillings allocated to various projects cannot be accounted for.

“As we speak, sh 373 million allocated to road works cannot be accounted for. This money belongs to the public and they have the right to demand answers from the county,” said Sigor MCA, Peter Mutai.

Ngetich is also accused of engaging personnel who are not employees of the county in the operation of the equipment, which is against the law.

” For the mismanagement of county assets, Mr speaker, Erik Ngetich must go. For the abuse of office by the CECs, and engaging staff who are not formally hired, as operators of equipment, Erick Ngetich must go,” added Mutai.

This even as Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission confirms launching investigations into alleged corruption in the county government.
