Aden Duale, former Defence Cabinate secretary, has thanked President Ruto for nominating him to serve in the same capacity he was before the dismisal of all Cabinet Secretaries sometime this month.
Duale stated in a post on his X account that the President’s and Kenyans’ trust in his abilities to enhance national security is reflected in the nomination.
“This nomination reflects the President’s and the Kenyan people’s profound trust and confidence in my ability to advance our nation’s agenda and more particularly the national security of our nation hence contribute to its greatness,” Duale said.
He said that he is willing and excited to appear before the National Assembly committee in order to be vetted by the general public.
“Am ready and willing to present myself to the relevant National Assembly for vetting and public scrutiny,” Duale said.

Duale has been the CS for the Defence ministry since October 2022 until July this year when President Ruto dissolved his Cabinet.
Along with five other former cabinet secretaries, Duale has been renominated for Ruto’s cabinet. These are Kithure Kindiki for Interior, Alice Wahome for Public Works, Davis Chirchir for Roads, and Soipan Tuya for Environment.
Until July 2020, he served as the Majority Party’s leader in the National Assembly during the 11th and 12th Parliament, a total of 8 years. This senior government position is housed within the Kenyan Parliament and was established in accordance with the 2010 Kenyan Constitution.
He was first elected to parliament in 2007 and then again in 2013, 2017, and 2022.
Duale was a Member of Parliament for Garissa Township Constituency and served as a ranking member in the Public Accounts Committee in the 12th Parliament.
