The government through the Ministry of Education is set to construct additional Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) classrooms across the country.

Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang says the move is part of the government’s plans to ensure smooth learning in JSS.

Speaking in Nandi County, he said funds have been released and the work is expected to be complete before December.

According to him, the county will have 540 new JSS classrooms, most of whose construction he says has already commenced.

“We are going to set up additional JSS classrooms across the country so as to accommodate grade 9 learners. This county will have 540 new classrooms. We are also happy that 24% of form 4 leavers will join university, which is above the national average of 22%,” stated Kipsang.

He expressed that 24% of form 4 candidates from the county will join university in September, which he says is above the national average of 22%.

Kipsang assured that the hiring and confirmation of JSS teachers continues as planned, further reiterating the government’s commitment to ensure smooth running of academic programmes in the country.

His Health Counterpart Harry Kimutai underscored the benefits of the Social Health Insurance Fund, urging Kenyans to enroll once it’s officially launched on 21st of this month, since the process is easy.

“We have the Emergency Chronic and Critical illness Fund which enables patients to get quality treatment even after exhausting SHIF limit. So what I want to urge you is that enroll in the programme. We shall be communicating to you probably on the 21st when you are going to start registration, which will be done at the comfort of your hand, when you have your smart phone, if you have the other phone, you will be able to register,” added Kimutai.
