Comedian Timothy Kimani alias Njugush is the latest author in town, having recently launched his own book, titled Whispers from my Childhood.
In the book, he shared his childhood stories including the condition that would have hindered his speech.
“I was born with a condition called anquiloglosia, an unusual occurrence where the tip of the tongue is tied to the the floor of the mouth by the frenulum. Simply put, a dark skin baby boy had been born Good News spreading parents, that was good news the bad news, he was tongue tied and nobody knew,” he reveals in the book.
In an interview at the launch, Njugush further expounded on the subject saying that without his mother’s intervention today, he wouldn’t be successful as his is, because speech is what has contributed widely to his success.
“Around one months when I was born, I had condition that could have prevented me to be where I am, something to do with me not being able to speak and affecting my speech. That is very crucial because kama sio the intervention that could have been done then by my mother I think I wouldn’t be where I am. with Bila mimi kuwa able to speak I don’t I would be able to be where we are,” the comedian admitted.
Asked on whether he would join politics, Njugush said, “I don’t think so. I don’t think it is in my place. Kila mtu anafaa afanye what you are supposed to do. I am very good in what I do for example in my skits hapo ndio sauti yangu inatoka poa. The problem that we are here, people who are not qualified got into those positions. In terms of leadership, I don’t think I am cut for that.”
