Safaricom has refuted assertions that, in the midst of ongoing kidnappings, they are responsible for providing police with information to help them locate opponents of the finance bill activists.

This is in response to some Kenyans believing that they are the ones disclosing personal information to the government in order to be tracked down and kidnapped.

A member on X questioned how the police are able to track individuals 100% of the time.

” Lakini how do police track you to your current location with 100% accuracy?”

According to Hanifa Farsafi, a leading participant in the current demonstrations against the financial law, Safaricom PLC is the driving force behind them.

” 100% SafaricomPLC” Hanifa said.

At this point, the Safaricom firm was compelled to respond to the accusations levelled against them, stating that they only release customer data when required to do so by a court order.

” We did not share customer data unless where it is explicitly against a court order,” they wrote.

They went on to say that they were not in favour of the government’s recent measures because they had not been supported by the courts.

” On this issue there has been no request or court order served,” the statement concluded.

Some Kenyans continue to believe that they are lying and that they are completely assisting the government in locating protestors.
