Normalcy has been disrupted along Moi Avenue in Nairobi CBD after a tree fell and blocked the road right next to the iconic Imenti House as as a result of heavy rains on Tuesday night.
The Wednesday morning incident has rendered the road impassable as motorists and pedestrians are forced to use alternative roads.
Nairobi County council have arrived at the scene and are seen clearing the trees as traffic police redirect vehicles to other optional roads available as seen on videos that have surfaced online.

Some businesses were also not spared as the fallen tree along Moi Avenue blocked most businesses at the Imenti business hub.
Similarly another incident was reported along Kenyatta Avenue after a tree fell along Kenyatta Avenue after another tree fell disrupting operations along the busy road. Other estates within Nairobi were also affected following the Tuesday rains resulting to flooding.
” If you’re using Thika Road from Nairobi, the road is completely impassable. Heavy traffic as vehicles are getting stuck due to flooding” read a cautionary message.
According to the Kenya Meteorological Department, Nairobi will continue to receive heavy rains and thunderstorms for the next seven days.
“The expected heavy rainfall is likely to be accompanied by strong winds, thunder and lightning. The public is advised to avoid sheltering under tress and metallic structures to minimize exposure to lightning strikes. There is a need to be cautious since the forecasted strong winds may damage roofs, trees, and towering objects such as billboards.” said the weather man.
The weather man continued to warn that landslides might be experienced too as the heavy rains predicted to last till June continue.
