The official YouTube channel of the Synagogue Church of all Nations(SCOAN), Emmanuel TV has been suspended.
YouTube suspended the Emmanuel TV account over what it termed as violation of it’s hate speech policies. At the time of termination, which came on January 29, the account had garnered over a half a million followers and hundreds of million views.
This is the is the second time that Emmanuel TV is facing suspension for violating community guidelines. The account was first taken down in 2021.
The account was suspended after open Democracy, in partnership with BBC, scrutinised Emmanuel TV’s social media presence.
Open Democracy established that 50 videos on YouTube had abusive content, hence the team reported to YouTube. SCOAN is yet to respond to YouTube’s decision.
The move however comes just three weeks after BBC published explosive content on the founder of SCOAN TB Joshua, who passed away in 2021.
In the expose titled; Disciples: The Cult of TB Joshua, BBC uncovered sexual abuse and torture that former members of the church went through including his own daughter, who was allegedly born out of wedlock. The ills are said to have spanned more than 20 years.
The expose further revealed how the Nigerian televangelist faked miracles to attract more people to his church.
In response to allegation that one of the informants in the BBC expose, the church released a video on YouTube captioning it, “Exposing BBC: Was Ajoke TB Joshua’s biological daughter.
In the video, Joshua revealed that he adopted Ajoke when she was young. Apparently, she was abandoned near his church in Lagos.
“When she was a baby, I took her to the police station, and they were telling me, why can’t you take care of this little girl? Nobody will be able to take care of her; please adopt her. And I found this little one, let her live with us. The video was recorded when she was a baby,” he said.
SCOAN is currently run by Joshua’s widow Evelyn.
