Felix Mutinda, alias Brown Mauzo, has opened up on about his failed marriage to socialite Vera Sidika, who is the mother of two of his children, Asia Brown and Ice Brown.
In a candid interview with Nairobi News, Mauzo revealed that they officially parted ways in June 2023 but he only made it public in the end August.
Before that, Mauzo confessed that he had walked out of the marriage a number of times because of things that did not sit well with him.
He further said that their separation was caused by piled up issues and attempts to sort them out failed to bear any fruits.
“We tried to salvage the marriage, but unfortunately those discussions didn’t lead to a resolution. Concurrently, numerous factors played role in the marriage breakdown,” the Coastal-based singer said.
Mauzo however admitted that they had their good times, opening up on the huge sacrifice that Vera made their relationship.
“It was a great marriage, marked by actions that surpassed anything I had experienced before. Vera did things that surprised me,” Mauzo said, revealing that she even converted to Islam, adopting the name Zara.
At first, he doubted if her actions were pure.
“One day, she called me expressing her desire to convert to Islam, saying she wanted us to be a Muslim couple. This was a signifanct sacrifice she made for the sake of our relationship and I gave in,” the father of five said.
“The gesture deeply touched my heart and I realised the sincerity behind her intention in our relationship, although initially I had reservations, suspecting it might be for publicity,” he added.
At the time, Mauzo was having issues in his other relationship that was on the verge to divorce. He however decided to move on with Vera.
