Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has addressed Meru leaders who have been undermined her leadership.
Speaking during a function that President William Ruto was in attendance in Meru, Mwangaza said that the county government will not be overtaken by cartels.
“Na tunasema hivi tukiwa na mahustlers wenzangu, yakwamba Meru County haitatekwa nyara na macartel kumi ambao wanafikiria Meru iko na shida, Watu kumi viongozi ambao wanalipwa mshahara wa 1 million ama 500,000 and above hawaezimake decision yakwamba Meru iko kwa shimo whereas we know shida yao ni hao wenyewe tumbo zao,” the governor said.
According to her, the few individuals causing havoc are yet to be convinced that she is the governor of Meru county and are still bitter about it. Meru Governor gave a stern message to the rich and the few politicians who have not accepted her to understand that Meru has a leader who is non other than Governor Kawira Mwangaza.
“Tunakuomba ufungue Meru siku ya leo mheshimiwa rais. Na kuna watu hawajakubali governor ni mama. Kuna watu hawajakubali Governor ni mama. Kama vile kuna watu huko juu ambao hawajakubali Rais wetu alichaguliwa. Hawaaamini ya kwamba mtoto ambaye alikuwa anatengeneza kuku ama a simple person anawezakuwa rais na wanamsumbua kwasababau hawajaamini kwamba president wetu ni rais pamoja na naibu wake, hivyo ndivyo ilivyo Meru, kuna matajiri na viongozi wachache ambao hawajaamini walipoteza katika kura amabzo zilipita, ” said the Governor.
Just months after her swearing in as governor, Mwangaza faced intense opposition. Meru MCAs wanted to impeach her accusing her of nepotism and misuse of office.
In late December last year, the Senate dismissed her impeachment after finding that none of the 62 allegations that had been levelled against her were substantiated.
