The two time Olympic Champion Faith Kipyegon won her third Olympic gold medal in 1500m race in the ongoing Athletic Championship in Budapest on Tuesday.
Kipyegon won the 1500m race by clocking three minutes 54 seconds making both Kenyans and African Continent proud.
Kenyans have come out in large numbers to congratulate her in social media platforms including senior state members like the head of state Dr. William Ruto, DP Rigathi Gachagua, Siaya county governor James Orengo and First Lady Rachael Ruto.
Ruto described Kipyegon as a rare icon whose talent will be renowned in generations.
“Peerless, a legendary and a once-in-a generation talent. Congratulations Faith Kipyegon for winning our first gold after defending the 1500m title for the 3rd time in a row in Budapest World Championship,” he said in his twitter.
The first lady Rachel ruto thanked her for making Kenyan proud.
” Faith Kipyegon does it again ! Congratulations on winning the gold medal in the women’s 1500m race at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest. Kenya is proud of you,” Rachael said in her twitter.
DP Rigathi Gachagua on the other hand said Kenya is lucky to have such a gem and wished her success in her future competitions.
Siaya governor James Orengo further appreciated how the legend’s finishing was tactical and agile making have a powerful finish.
In Kakamega, Kipyegon fans showed their appreciation towards the athlete for her outstanding performance in Budapest.
“We are really proud of Faith Kipyegon and all the athletes representing Kenyans. We wish the remaining participants to do their best and make Kenyans proud as well,” Jupita Mboya remarked.
“We are so happy and proud as a nation. May Faith Kipyegon continue to prosper in her future competitions. I also hope the government to take this opportunity to help build and nurture talents by creating more academies for our young athletes,” Isaac Juma added.
