Kenyan Gospel Singer Owen Mwatia popularly known as Daddy Owen has opened up on how his marriage to his ex wife Faridah Wambui came tumbling down.

In an interview with a local YouTuber, Daddy Owen said unlike his previous dates, he made his relationship with Faridah public because he wanted to settle down.

” I had dated before, I am one of those guys that know how to separate my private life and public life. For her it was different because I had now decided I want to get married.” said Owen.

Asked on what caused their separation, Owen explained that his marriage stopped working when both  he and his ex partner stopped putting in effort their required for their marriage to work.

” I am man so I own up to everything in my life. I think everything went wrong when both of us stopped working to make things better. Kuna ile kuzoeana na mnasonga,” Owen continued.

The Vanity hit maker said the divorce did not get him by surprise. He had started seeing the tell tale signs way back but decided to keep quiet about them. He also revealed that his kids are what broke him most in the entire divorce process.

” I knew it was over before watu wakuje kijua online. People don’t understand me keeping quite about some stuff. Mimi nilijifanya mjinga.  What broke me was the kids. The kids didn’t chose to be here. My kids really broke me because I never imagined my kids shall be raised not in a family set up,” Owen stated.

Questioned on his current view on marriage, the urban gospel singer said he hasn’t lost hope in marriage and given a second chance at it, he would do things differently than before.

” I still say marriage is a beautiful thing. I can’t complain about marriage. Nikioa tena I think I would be more lenient. Now I know marriage is more of you want it i want it let’s make it work. It’s both effort from both parties,” said Owen.
