Saumu Mbuvi, a fearless advocate for women’s rights, has been appointed as the Machakos State Chairperson. With her new role,she aims to bring about change and create a safer environment for all.

“I am humbled and honoured to take on this important role as the Machakos State Chairperson, with a specific focus on combating gender-based violence,” Saumu stated.
She also stressed the importance of collaboration, adding that eradicating gender based violence required a united effort from all sectors of society. She called upon the government, civil society organisations, law enforcement agencies, and communities to join hands in this crucial mission.
“We cannot combat gender-based violence alone; it requires a collective effort,” Saumu emphasized.
“We must establish a comprehensive support system that provides survivors with access to justice, healthcare, counseling, and rehabilitation. We need to strengthen our laws, raise awareness, and foster a culture that respects and protects the rights of women and girls,”she added.
The new appointed Chairperson acknowledged the courage of survivors who had come forward and shared their stories, vowing to amplify their voices and ensure that justice was served.
“To those who have bravely shared their experiences, I want you to know that you are not alone. I stand with you, and together, we will fight for justice,” she declared. “We will create safe spaces, where survivors can find solace, support, and empowerment.No survivor should ever be silenced or shamed for speaking their truth.”
She urged everyone to play an active role in ending gender-based violence. She also highlighted the significance of education and awareness in shaping a society that values equality and respects the inherent worth of every individual.
