Tanzanian singer Jay Melody has broken silence after spending hours behind bars at the Kilimani Police station.
The artist alongside his crew were taken to custody following a confrontation with a Mombasa promoter identified as Golden Boy.
Golden Boy reported Jay Melody’s team at the Bamburi Police station in Mombasa accusing them of assault. The team was however arrested and taken to Kilimani police station as they had travelled to Nairobi.
It is alleged that Jay Melody was released after the intervention of Jaguar, Mzazi Willy M Tuva, Brown Mauzo and other influential personalities.
Speaking to YouTube Content Creators, the Sawa hitmaker said that such are challenges that artists face.
“In art we have a lot of challenges a lot of things happen. There are people who love us but there are those who don’t love us seeing doing great work. The challenges come and we have to face them. They ruin our image, so its just music challenges, I am a person who is loved by many so they have to be there,” he said.

He further denied claims of assaulting Golden Boy. According to him, the issues arose because of unprofessionalism.
“Sio ukweli, mimi ni mtu honest sana na pia humble lakini pia mimi si mtu wa kujifukia karibu lakini pia mi sio mtu wa kufanya maamuzi tu kwasababu nafanya. Kilichotokea nafikiri ni mazingira fulani ya biashara ambayao hayakukaa sawa nafikiri pia ni watu kukosa professionalism, sanasana watu tunaojaribu kufanya nao kazi. Changamoto hizpo mara nyini huwa hatukutani nazo. Tukikutana nazo huwa zinatokea inakuwa story,” the arist said.
He also assured his fans that he is safe and the matter is still with the police.
“Ni issue ya biashara, iko polisi na singependa kuongelea sana kwasababu mpaka sasa siko kwenye hatari. Niwatoe tu hofu watu wangu siko kwenye hatari lakini pia imepita hivyo kisheria na tuko sawa,” Jay Melody said.
