Controversial Kilifi Pastor Paul Mackenzie has insisted he is innocent and is sure he will walk Scott free from the numerous allegations that he is facing.

Appearing before the  Shanzu Law Courts on Friday, June 2, Mackenzie said he believes that God will fight for for him. He further claimed that he still doesn’t know why he is being held when he did nothing wrong.

The suspected cult leader further complained of a slow judicial system saying it has unjustly had him behind bars for almost two months.

While showing how his faith is still unshaken, Mackenzie said he believes Jesus will come to save him because he is innocent.

“Kwa kweli hata sioni progress. Na sijui kwa nini niko hapa kwanza. Wacha tusubiri tusikie kwa kweli nahisi kudhulumika basi. Najua yesu wangu ninaye mtumikia, ninayemwaminia atanisaidia,” said Mackenzie.

Upon being questioned on how much he knows concerning the progress of his case, Mackenzie said he doesn’t have a clue about what is going on. He said he does not have access to any information or news.

“Hakuna kitu mimi ninajua bwana. Hata haina haja niongee mambo mengi kwa sababu nimekuwa custody miezi mbili. Sielewi na hata sioni news. Siezi jua chochote labda unieleze wewe kama ushawai fika huko,” the controversial pastor said.

Mackenzie was arrested after events at his Kilifi Shakaola farm were highlighted by the media. He is accused of making his followers to fast to death with the promise of meeting Jesus.

The preacher is being charged with murder, radicalisation of people, and teaching controversial religious beliefs that endanger lives.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) in conjunction with police in Kilifi are still exhuming bodies at Shakahola farm. So far 243 bodies have been exhumed.
