Fast rising you tuber Nicholas Kioko has taken a personal initiative in the quest to have President William Ruto consider the 15% tax set to be imposed on Kenyan Content Creators.
In the letter whose reference reads Concern about proposed finance bill 2023and its impact on content creators, Kioko hopes that the president will reconsider the bill.
”Imposing a 15% t with holding tax on the revenue generated from content creation and digital marketing would place an immense burden on content creators and stunt the industry’s growth potential”A section of Kioko’s letter to President william Ruto read.
The concerned content creator further went ahead to show the impact of the proposed15% tax on digital creators and Kenya’s economy at large.
”Kioko mentioned and explained 4 main effects that he feels the tax will have and they include:
”Reduced motivation and creativity
Diminished economic growth.
Increased financial constraints among content creators
Impact on job creation” and explained them as illustrated in the letter below.
”I kindly request you to reconsider the proposal to impose a15% withholding tax on content creators revenue. , content creation has become a lifeline for many young Kenyans offering them an opportunity to showcase their talent earn a living and contribute to the nations economy let us not stifle their creativity and potential by imposing unnecessary taxes that will only hinder their growth.”Kioko concluded.
In the same spirit his followers are calling upon other content creators help him push the agenda for reforms on the proposed bill.
