Tina Turner whose original name is Anna Mae Bullock died on Wednesday May 24, 2023 after a long illness.
Turner is popular for songs such as, The Best, What’s Love Got To Do With It, I Don’t Wanna Fight and Private Dance.
The Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll”, was a singer, songwriter, dancer, actress, record producer, choreographer, and author. She has featured in many films, others as the only black woman.
She is an American-born and was born November 26, 1939 at Brownsville, United States from a sharecropping family. Turner began her career in 1958 at 16 yrs, as a background singer for Ike Turner (her first husband) and his band.
Tina and Ike Turner split in 1976, and later divorced in 1978 due to severe instances of spousal abuse against her. In 1985, she met with Erwin Bach, at the airport and had a love at first sight encounter. When they met, Tuner was 47 while Bach was 30 years. The age difference did not hinder them from being together. They got married in 2013 after 27 years of being together, and lived in Switzerland till her demise.

Tina Turner suffered ill health in recent years, after being diagnosed with intestinal cancer in 2016. When she had a total kidney failure in 2017, her husband, Erwin, gave her one kidney and gave her a chance to live again.
She had four children with Ike, which two of them were biological, while the other two were adopted. The biological, were Craig Turner born in 1958, while the younger one was Ronnie Turner born in 1960. The adopted kids were, Ike Turner Jr., and Michael Turner.
Craig died by suicide in 2018 while his younger brother Ronnie died of complications of colon cancer in December in 2022.
In 1984, Tina launched multi-platinum album ‘Private Dancer’ and had the the hit song “What’s Love Got to Do With It” which won the Grammy Award Record of the Year. Her chart success had all the songs she released and other more which included, Golden Eye and Typical Male.
In 1988, she broke the Guinness World Record of the largest playing audience(180,000), for a solo performer. Tina Turner is one of the best selling recording artists of all time. She received 12 Grammy Awards, which included eight competitive awards, three Grammy Hall of Fame awards and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
She was ranked one of 100 Greatest Artists and singers of All Time. She was also a 2005 recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors and Women of the Year award.
Turner also acted in 1975(Tommy), 1985(Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome), 1993(What’s Love Got to Do with It).
In 2009, the mother of four retired after completing her 50th Anniversary Tour, which is the 15th-highest-grossing tour of the 2000s. She was admired by many people and people loved her work.
