Pastor Ezekiel Odero of New Life Prayer Centre and church was on Friday arraigned in court after spending the night in police custody at Shanzu Police station.
Pastor Ezekiel was arrested and grilled on Thursday over the multiple deaths that have been occurring in his church.
Officers investigating his case are now linking him to the Shakahola Massacre where close to 100 bodies of christians were discovered. Officers informed the court that they have evidence proving some of the people who died at Pastor Ezekiel’s church were buried at dreaded Shakahola piece of land that is linked to Malindi controversial pastor Paul Mackenzie.
“He is linked to several occurrence book reports of almost 100 deaths that occurred in the church between 2022 and 2023. These deaths occurred within church precincts,” Senior Prosecution Counsel Jami Yamina said.
Investigators have also obtained transactions records of Kshs3 million that saw Mackenzie sell his TV station to Ezekiel. They want him to be held for 30 days as into the mass killings continue.
Faithfuls of New Life Prayer Centre have however protested the move to place their leader in custody saying he is innocent. According to them, their lives are now in chaos since they depended on him and his generosity.
